REFRESH: six of London’s best youth dance companies perform brand new dance to music chosen by leading choreographers
Saturday 18 February 2012, The Place, 6pm & 8pm
Youth dance companies Far from the Norm, Cando2, Dance United’s London Performance Company, Strut Youth Dance Company, A & R Dance Company and Khronos present unseen works to music chosen by   Richard Alston, Kate Prince, Tom Roden, Frauke Requardt, Russell Maliphant and Mark Baldwin.

Following an incredible response last year, The Place, in partnership with Sadler’s Wells, welcome the return of refresh, a unique opportunity to see the best talent on the youth dance scene come together on a professional stage. Selected by The Place and Sadler’s Wells from open applications, the six companies were challenged to create a brand new piece of dance to specially selected music for this one-night-only mixed bill.

refresh champions the work of youth dance companies, providing them with a rare chance to immerse themselves in the professional dance world, and create their own choreography and premiere their work to an audience of their peers.

refresh will also mark the very first public performance by
Shuffle, The Place’s junior dance company for dancers aged 9 – 13 years. Shuffle’s debut performance, Set In Stone, explores the world of Greek mythology and is inspired by images of sculptures of ancient gods and goddesses.

Before the performance, two professional companies, Essential Alston (for 14-19 year olds) and Zoonation (for 9-13 year olds) will lead taster workshops allowing young participants to experience professional dance class.

Date: Saturday 18 February 2012, 6pm & 8pm.
Location: The Place, 17 Duke’s Road, London, WC1H 9PY
Tickets: £14 workshop and show (limited availability)
