Title In The Company Of Ghosts: The Poetics Of The Motorway
Type of event Exhibition
Dates 27 July 2012
Description A common interest in the physchogeographics of the motorway prompted artist Edward Chell and poet Andrew Taylor to co-edit a book which launched on 3 July at the Southbank Centre’s Poetry Library.

This LAST Fridays event opens up a discussion with some of the contributors about the history, influence and poetics of the English motorway system where romance and squalor, personal and political, private interests and public space collide.

Guests at the event include Will Alsop, Edward Chell and David Lawrence with sonic performance poetry from Jennifer Cooke.

The evening will also launch a new screenprint, Buttercup - Ranunculus repens: Dust A20(M) by Edward Chell: produced exclusively as a donation to Beaconsfield’s Fraternise fundraising scheme in an edition of 30.

Contributors to In the Company of Ghosts include Will Alsop, Iain Sinclair, Elizabeth Cowie, the Reverend John Davies and David Lawrence.
