| Description | St. Arts presents Mother/Son by Jeffrey Solomon Directed by SHAHAR KAZARA. Lighting by ARNIM FRIESS 11th – 29th May Tues-Sat 8pm PRESS NIGHT Thursday 13th May 8pm (Drinks served from 7pm) Jeffrey Solomon, an Emmy nominated writer & performer from New York, will be appearing in his critically acclaimed solo play MOTHER/SON about the evolving relationship between a twenty-something Jewish, gay man and his mother at Oval House Theatre. In MOTHER/SON Jeffrey Solomon plays both a son and the mother who struggles to accept his sexual orientation, tracing her transformation from shell-shocked parent to the mom at the front of the Pride parade. Inspired by Solomon’s own relationship with his mother, the play has been critically acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic, and hailed as “Funny, Poignant and Appealing…A Must See!” by Gay Chicago and was a critical smash at the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe. MOTHER/SON won the Audience Favourite, Best Playwright and Best Male Solo Performer at the 2002 National Gay & Lesbian Theatre Festival. REVIEWS FOR MOTHER/SON: “A powerful portrait of homosexuality and family...Solomon's warm-hearted, semi-autobiographical tour-de-truth depicts the comically complex and wryly evolving relationship of Mindy Levy, a full-time Jewish mother, and her gay son Brad...as accessible as enjoyable...a very fine dual performance, .” –Chicago Tribune “A universally moving story of love and friendship.” –In Theater |
