| Dates | 25 June 2010 - 27 June 2010 |
| Description | David Bestué and Güneş Terkol open their studios to the public to show and discuss the development of their work during their stay in London. David Bestué uses different media to manipulate ideas drawn from philosophy, art history, architecture and film. By making small changes to public and domestic scenarios, his works create absurd situations that question the conventions of human behaviour. Güneş Terkol draws inspiration from her immediate surroundings to sew and draw, compose music and make videos. The protagonists of her often humorous narratives are usually women adapting or refusing to adapt to the social and cultural transformations taking place in Turkey. Born in Ankara, Güneş Terkol lives and works in Istanbul. To facilitate her residency, Gasworks is working in partnership with British Council, the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations, education and the arts within the framework of My City project funded by the EuropeanCommission Cultural Bridges Programme. Private View: Thursday 24th June, 6.30 - 9pm |
