| Description | THEATRE Winter / Spring Throughout Jan – Apr 2010 Moonfleece forms the centrepiece of Rich Mix Winter / Spring theatre season, with its world premiere on Tuesday 2nd March. This compelling, personal new work by Time Out and Evening Standard Award-winner Philip Ridley is set in East London and will run for 2 weeks to coincide with EAST festival. During the run Philip Ridley will join us for an In Conversation event and readings of his poetry. Elizabeth Mansfield’s The Uninvited and Eclipse Theatre’s Michael X help us celebrate Martin Luther King Day and the one year anniversary of Barack Obama’s inauguration, as well as question and explore notions of freedom and democracy. The Afterlife of Slavery and Knife Edge both tackle the rising problem of knife crime on London’s streets, whilst on a lighter note Rannel Theatre Company’s award-winning Flhip Flhop is a showcase of the finest hip-hop theatre on the circuit. JCC for London’s double bill looks at issues of identity, as does Random Line Theatre Company with its theatre installation piece Second Skin created by learning disabled performers, and Rasa’s enchanting Handful of Henna. 1867 looks back with the story of the first self-made African American female millionaire, whilst Monologueslam looks very much forward with a fun and frantic actors showcase, and Play/Rave mixes it all up with theatre closely followed by a club night. Finally, Rich Mix celebrates the greatest playwright of them all with Shakespeare’s Rape of Lucrece, and a special In Conversation event that asks if he is still relevant today. ------------- Listings: The Uninvited Wed 20 Jan / 7.30pm / Venue 1 / £5 A performance tour de force telling the extraordinary stories of refugees and exiles from all over the world.
