Title AuréLien Froment
Type of event Exhibition
Dates 09 July 2009 - 16 August 2009
Special dates Private view: Wednesday 8 July 2009, 7-9pm
Description Aurélien Froment's first solo presentation in a UK public space continues his exploration of the interplay between artist, artwork and viewer and the specific ways in which they cooperate. His exhibition at Gasworks will investigate systems of pedagogy or the various methods – whether spatial, visual or textual – by which signs, knowledge and information can be shared.

Froment will show a new body of works in mediums ranging from photography, to sculpture and printed matter. The exhibition will be underpinned by a conversation between the artist and filmmaker Werner Herzog, whose film Fitzcarraldo has informed the artist's practice and a few of his works to date. Available in print during the exhibition, this dialogue proposes a personal reflection on the relationship between author and spectator.

Aurélien Froment lives and work in Dublin. His work has been seen at, amongst others, Kunsthalle Basel, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Project Arts Centre in Dublin, Tate Britain in London, the Nam June Paik Centre in Seoul, STUK in Leuven and Mudam in Luxembourg. Froment's forthcoming projects include a solo exhibition at Centro Cultural Montehermoso, Vitoria and at CCA Wattis, San Francisco as part of the exhibition The Exhibition Formerly Known as Passengers. Aurélien Froment is represented by Motive Gallery, Amsterdam and Store, London.
