| Title | Environment Room |
| Type of event | Exhibition |
| Dates | 17 March 2008 - 31 December 2010 |
| Description | Stunning photographs and accompanying text showcase local, London-wide and global environmental issues, and show how we can all make a difference. The room makes connections between natural and cultural objects seen around the galleries and gardens. The centrepiece is an observation beehive, thought to be the largest in the country, where visitors can spot the queen bee, see the honey stores and young brood cells, and watch the workers flying out and back into the hive bringing pollen. A reading area includes books for all ages and comments from Horniman staff on what inspires them about the natural world. Environmental trail sheets are also available to lead families on a journey around the Museum. Permanent exhibition |
